The online newspaper Al Maghrebiya  (www.almaghrebiya.it)  is experiencing a boom in visitors from the Gulf countries, primarily from Qatar. “This is a great result for our work aimed at spreading correct information on Middle East affairs”, said Hon. Souad Sbai, the founder and director of the newspaper, which is specialized in the fight against extremism and jihadist terrorism. Hon. Sbai, who is also President of the Averroes Studies Center and of the Moroccan Women’s Association in Italy, pointed out that “Al Maghrebiya is in the frontline with the Arab world in its battle against the fundamentalism of the Muslim Brotherhood and of the states sponsoring them, namely Qatar, ruled by the Al Thani emirs, and Erdogan’s Turkey”. “The fact that every day thousands of readers from Doha follow the analyses and insights offered by Al Maghrebiya in English language – she said -, is an indication that the Qatari citizens are willing to free their country from the oppression of a regime that continues to finance terrorism and destabilize the Middle East”.

According to the former center-right deputy in the Italian Parliament, “the opposition in Qatar is taking courage. Intellectuals and the new generation are calling for democratic reforms, the adoption of a moderate and tolerant Islam against the radical ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, and respect for human rights, including for the tens of thousands of foreign workers treated as slaves by the brutality of the regime”.

“Al Maghrebiya – she explains – gives strength and courage to the Qatari dissidents, even to those who are abroad because they have been expelled or forced to flee in order to escape the persecutions carried out by the emirs of the Al Thani clan, who govern the country in a despotic and dictatorial manner”.

“We will continue along this path”, concludes Hon. Sbai, “knowing that it is necessary to establish a broader international movement in support of the democratic opposition to the Al Thani regime in Qatar, with the aim to free the country from a dictatorship that today constitutes the greatest threat to peace and security in the Middle East and in the world”.
