June 18 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, June 18, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 23,101 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 238,159, with an increase of 331 new cases compared to yesterday. 34,514 died (66 in the past 24 hours). 180,544 patients have recovered, 1,089 more than yesterday. 168 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 5 more than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 14,647 in Lombardy, 2,290 in Piedmont, 1,281 in Emilia-Romagna, 607 in Veneto, 438 in Tuscany, 246 in Liguria, 997 in the Lazio, 577 in the Marche, 242 in Campania, 306 in Puglia, 59 in the autonomous province of Trento, 637 in Sicily, 97 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 434 in Abruzzo, 85 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 16 in Umbria, 33 in Sardinia, 6 in the Aosta Valley, 35 in Calabria, 60 in Molise e 10 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, June 17, the police checked 72,829 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 88, 2 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 18,280 businesses: 17 businesses were closed and 9 operators were reported.
