June 17 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, June 17, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 25,909 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 237,828, with an increase of 328 new cases compared to yesterday. 34,448 died (43 in the past 24 hours). 179,455 patients have recovered, 929 more than yesterday. 163 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 14 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to  14,972 in Lombardy, 2,385 in Piedmont, 1,345 in Emilia-Romagna, 680 in Veneto, 444 in Tuscany, 244 in Liguria, 1,039 in the Lazio, 585 in the Marche, 258 in Campania, 324 in Puglia, 58 nin the autonomous province of Trento, 805 in Sicily, 99 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 438 in Abruzzo, 87  in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 18 in Umbria, 31 in Sardinia, 8 iin the Aosta Valley, 33 in Calabria, 62 in Molise e 10 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, June 16, the police checked 69,103 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 45, 3 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 18,019 businesses: 7 businesses were closed and 24 operators were reported.
