June 2 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, June 2, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 39,893 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 233,515, with an increase of 318 new cases compared to yesterday. 33,530 died (55 in the past 24 hours). 160,092 patients have recovered, 1,737 more than yesterday. 408 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 16 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 20,255 in Lombardy, 4,828 in Piedmont, 2,912 in Emilia-Romagna, 1,403 in Veneto, 1,011 in Tuscany, 546 in Liguria, 2,847 in the Lazio, 1,326 in the Marche, 890 in Campania, 1,051 in Puglia, 283 in the autonomous province of Trento, 966 in Sicily, 244 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 743 in Abruzzo, 120 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 31 in Umbria, 155 in Sardinia, 13 in the Aosta Valley, 112 in Calabria, 133 in Molise e 24 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, June 1, the police checked 99,650 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 375, 2 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 24,931 businesses: 20 operators were reported and 7 businesses were closed.
