June 1 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, June 1, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 41,367 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 233,197, with an increase of 178 new cases compared to yesterday. 33,475 died (60 in the past 24 hours). 158,355 patients have recovered, 848 more than yesterday. 424 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 11 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 20.861 in Lombardy, 5.062 in Piedmont, 3.068 in Emilia-Romagna, 1.468 in Veneto, 1.082 in Tuscany, 611 in Liguria, 2.894 in the Lazio, 1.327 in the Marche, 939 in Campania, 1.155 in Puglia, 293 in the autonomous province of Trento, 967 in Sicily, 266 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 744 in Abruzzo, 123 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 31 in Umbria, 161 in Sardinia, 17 in the Aosta Valley, 135 in Calabria, 135 in Molise e 28 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, May 31, the police checked 98,735 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 480, 12 those reported for false attestation or declaration, 3 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 24,854 businesses: 33 operators were reported and 12 businesses were closed.
