May 31 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, May 31, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 42,075 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 233,019, with an increase of 355 new cases compared to yesterday. 33,415 died (75 in the past 24 hours). 157,507 patients have recovered, 1,874 more than yesterday. 435 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 15 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 20.996 in Lombardy, 5.161 in Piedmont, 3.163 in Emilia-Romagna, 1.500 in Veneto, 1.111 in Tuscany, 669 in Liguria, 2.983 in the Lazio, 1.338 in the Marche, 980 in Campania, 1.177 in Puglia, 304 in the autonomous province of Trento, 986 in Sicily, 278 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 753 in Abruzzo, 127 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 31 in Umbria, 185 in Sardinia, 15 in the Aosta Valley, 144 in Calabria, 145 in Molise e 29 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, May 30, the police checked 99,975 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 522, 8 those reported for false attestation or declaration, 2 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 27,291 businesses: 32 operators were reported and 10 businesses were closed.
