May 29 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, May 29, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 46,175 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 232,248, with an increase of 516 new cases compared to yesterday. 33,229 died (87 in the past 24 hours). 152,844 patients have recovered, 2,240 more than yesterday. 475 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 14 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 22.683 in Lombardy, 5.658 in Piedmont, 3.564 in Emilia-Romagna, 1.849 in Veneto, 1.255 in Tuscany, 994 in Liguria, 3.163 in the Lazio, 1.352 in the Marche, 986 in Campania, 1.283 in Puglia, 410 in the autonomous province of Trento, 1.137 in Sicily, 323 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 770 in Abruzzo, 154  in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 31 in Umbria, 190 in Sardinia, 19 in the Aosta Valley, 159 in Calabria, 162 in Molise e 33 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, May 28, the police checked 113,403 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 299, 1 those reported for false attestation or declaration, 1 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 32,799 businesses: 33 operators were reported and 9 businesses were closed.
