May 28 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, May 28, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 47,986 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 231,732, with an increase of 593 new cases compared to yesterday. 33,142 died (70 in the past 24 hours). 150,604 patients have recovered, 3,503 more than yesterday. 489 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 16 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 22.913 in Lombardy, 6.072 in Piedmont, 3.750 in Emilia-Romagna, 2.025 in Veneto, 1.380 in Tuscany, 1.145 in Liguria, 3.405 in Lazio, 1.346 in the Marche, 1.012 in Campania, 1.395 in Puglia, 458 in the autonomous province of Trento, 1.145 in Sicily, 336 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 824 in Abruzzo, 157 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 33 in Umbria, 200 in Sardinia, 23 in the Aosta Valley, 170 in Calabria, 163 in Molise and 34 in Basilicata.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, May 27, the police checked 114,856 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 355, 9 those reported for false attestation or declaration, 1 complaints for violation of the obligation to leave the home for quarantine.

Police controlled 35,233 businesses: 41 operators were reported and 3 businesses were closed.
