May 10 – Latest updates on the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy


Today, May 10, at Civil Protection Department Headquarters, the Operational Committee kept working to ensure the coordination of all operations by the components and operational structures of the Italian Civil Protection Service.

As per health monitoring activities related to the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, at present 83,324 people have tested positive. To date, the total number of assessed cases in Italy is 219,070, with an increase of 802 new cases compared to yesterday. 30,560 died (165 in the past 24 hours). 105,186 patients have recovered, 2,155 more than yesterday. 1,027 Coronavirus patients are hospitalized in intensive care, 7 fewer than yesterday.

In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 30.190 in Lombardy, 13.650 in Piedmont, 7.191 in Emilia-Romagna, 5.591 in Veneto, 4.147 in Tuscany, 2.900 in Liguria, 4.286 in Lazio, 3.251 in the Marche, 1.915 in Campania, 786 in the autonomous province of Trento, 2.669 in Puglia,  2.069 in Sicily, 851 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 1.671 in Abruzzo, 459 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 113 in Umbria, 515 in Sardinia, 113 in the Aosta Valley, 596 in Calabria, 143 in Basilicata and 218 in Molise.

In application of the measures to contain the contagion, yesterday, May 9, the police checked 162,299 people. Those who have been reported after police checks were 2,081, 21 those reported pursuant to article 4, d.l. 25.03.2020 n. 19, 10 complaints pursuant to article 495 – 496 PC.

Police controlled 53,643 businesses: 178 operators were reported and 20 businesses were closed.
