Explanatory statement by Souad Sbai after the accusations made by the Ambassador of Morocco in Italy

in Comunicato Stampa/NEWS INTERNAZIONALI/News Uk

“After the lawsuit against me issued by the Ambassador of Morocco in Italy for “defamation and dissemination of false information with the aim of tarnishing the image of Morocco “after the death that took place in mysterious circumstances of the young Moroccan Imane Fadel, I want to clarify public opinion any reasonable doubt that may arise after the statements made by the Ambassador of Morocco in Italy and I claim that they are simply a lie, and I also want to make clear that he will never get – no matter what maneuver he uses – to question or underestimate the attachment and the love I feel for my native country, Morocco.

During the interview with the newspaper La Repubblica in which I talked about the circumstances surrounding Imane Fadel’s death, I simply wondered why the Moroccan Embassy in Italy remained silent for 25 days and why he did not lift a finger throughout this period of time. Imane Fadel’s death took place on February 24 and the news was spread by the Italian media two days later, that is, on February 26, 2019.

This means that the ambassador heard the news of her disappearance in the same period of time. So I wonder: why did he remain silent during the 25 days after the young woman’s death? Ambassador’s silence is deafening because the victim is not only a Moroccan citizen living in Italy; She is a woman that the ambassador knew very well, according to the testimony of some members of the Moroccan community in Italy.

I dismiss all the accusations made by the ambassador against me and I reserve the right to appeal to justice to defend my honor and my reputation.”
